Movement for appointing Assistant Teachers in Primary schools

Police charged baton against the agitators; Professor Mujib condemns

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 15 October 2020 protesting and condemning the attack and the baton charges of the law enforcers upon the agitators who are in a movement demanding immediate appointment of Assistant Teachers in the vacant posts in Primary schools.

Police has brutally baton charged against the agitators who have been continuing movement for last couple of days to press home their demands of appointing teachers in all the vacant post of the Assistant teachers in Primary schools and left 10 of them injured. I am condemning the incident. These agitators had been recommended by a special panel in 2018 to get appoint in the vacant posts of nationwide Primary Schools. But finally, they became compelled to take to the street as the government did not appoint them so far. Today, during their protest, when they appeared before the office of the Primary Education Department, police threw hot water from watercannon and baton charged against them. At least 12 of the agitators got injured in the incident. I am condemning and protesting such attack of the police forces.

All the agitators are recommended to get jobs in the vacant posts. But they are forced to conduct movement due to authority’s negligence and lack of sincerity in appointing them. They are struggling for justifiable demand. I am urging the concerned authorities to accept their just demands and also to ensure proper treatment of the injured protesters.
