Egyptian military court sentences 14 Muslim Brotherhood members to death; Acting Ameer condemns

Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 18th December, 2017 condemning the Egypt’s military court verdict that sentenced 14 members of Muslim Brotherhood to death and handed 24 members life sentences and 5 others 15 years imprisonment.

I am expressing my deep concern as a Egyptian military court in their recent verdict sentenced 14 members of Muslim Brotherhood to death and handed 24 members life sentences and 5 others 15 years imprisonment.

The Egyptian tyrannical government has convicted and sentenced the leaders and activists of Muslim Brotherhood unjustifiably just to attain their ill political interest. Since the incumbent authoritarian government led by military junta Abdel Fattah Al Sisi toppled the first ever elected President of Egypt Mohamed Morsi in 2013, has been conducting unprecedented repression and torture against the Muslim Brotherhood members. They have destroyed the democracy and democratic structures of the country. Elected President Dr. Mohamed Morsi is still passing days behind the bar. The oppressor regime of Egypt is now busy in convicting the Muslim Brotherhood activists in a bid to destroy the entire organization.

In different era and ages, the tyrannical regime carried repression against the general masses. But none of them could survive ultimately. Almighty Allah has ruined those tyrants. Similarly, the autocrats who are conducting tortures now days around the world will be eliminated by the will of Almighty Allah.

The tyrannical government of Egypt has violated human rights by convicting and sentencing the Muslim Brotherhood leaders unjustifiably. I am urging the United Nations, OIC and all the international platforms and human rights organizations to raise voice against such violation of human rights by the Egyptian government.

I am calling upon the Egyptian government to stop its crackdown and tortures against the Muslim Brotherhood and also to release all the leaders and members of Muslim Brotherhood including the elected Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi immediately.”
