Rafiqul Islam Khan expresses concern with government’s naked interference on judiciary

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan has issued the following statement on 14th October, 2017 expressing deep concern as a big perplexity has been created centring the said illness of the Chief Justice (CJ) of Bangladesh Surendra Kumar Sinha, followed by his submission of application to the President for leave of absence and its approval, his departure to Australia and his last minute’s drafted letter for the journalists and then authority’s 11 charges which has been brought in forth against him.

“Before departing for Australia, Chief Justice has placed his written letters to the journalists in which he categorically mentioned that he is not sick and he is perfectly alright. He further claimed in the letter that ‘I am worried with the independence of judiciary and severely embarrassed as the Prime Minister and her cabinet members have criticised me randomly’.

Such statement of the Chief Justice proved that the government has created unwanted pressure on him. Along with the countrymen, we are also highly concerned and worried with the naked executive interference.”
