Islamic preacher abducted from Comilla; Hamidur Rahman Azad expresses concern

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 26th May, 2017 expressing deep concern at the abduction of Shudhonnopur Madrasa’s Principal Mufti Maulana Mostaqunnabi, his student Khairul Islam and driver Masud from Comilla Sadar Dakhin Upazila area on last 24th May midnight.

“Along with the family, we are also deeply worried at the abduction of Shudhonnopur Madrasa’s Principal Mufti Maulana Mostaqunnabi, his student Khairul Islam and driver Masud from Comilla Sadar Dakhin Upazila area on last 24th May midnight. Mufti Maulana Mostaqunnabi was returning at that time after addressing a Waz Mahfil (religious conference) at Begumganj of the Noakhali district.

Though a general diary has been filed in this regard at the Comilla Sadar Dakhin police station but still no information is received so far about them. 3 days have been passed since their abduction and still the law enforcers could not find them out, which is their utmost failure. The families and relatives of the abducted personnel are highly tensed and worried their lives.

I am calling upon the concerned authorities to find out the trace of Mufti Mostaqunnabi and his accomplices and to bring them back to their families immediately.”
