U.S. Ambassador to Dhaka pays a courtesy call on Jamaat Ameer

Ambassador of the United States to Dhaka, H.E. Brent T. Christensen paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at his Bashundhara office Today, 29 January (Thursday) at 8:00 a.m.

He was accompanied by the Embassy’s Political and Economic Counselor Mr. Eric Gillman, Public Officer Ms. Monica L. Tsai, Political Officer Mr. James Stewart, and Political Specialist Firoz Ahmed.

The meeting was held in a very cordial and warm atmosphere.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on various issues including the prevailing political and economic situation of Bangladesh, industry and trade, the upcoming national parliamentary election, state reforms, and the Rohingya issue.

H.E. Brent T. Christensen highly praised the positive role of Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh’s economic development and democratic progress. At the same time, they expressed optimism that bilateral relations between the two countries would be further strengthened in the future.

On behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, party's Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair; Central Executive Council Member Mobarak Hossain; and Jamaat Ameer's advisor on Foreign Affairs, Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan were also present at that time.
