Today, Sunday, 11 January at 2:00 PM, a delegation led by former Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights Mr. Albert T. Gombis paid a courtesy visit to Bangladesh Jamaat-e-islami's Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at the party’s central office.

Other members of the delegation included former US Ambassador Mr. Morse H. Tan, Secretary General of the Muslim Ummah of North America and Director of a Chartered Accountancy Firm Mr. Arman Chowdhury, and New York–based business leader Mr. Faisal Alam.

Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim; Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair; Central Executive Council Member Mobarak Hossain; Engineer Dr. Zubayer Ahmed; Barrister Nazrul Islam, Professor Saifullah Mansur, Engineer Sirajul Islam; and Barrister Mir Ahmad bin Quasem Arman accompanied Jamaat Ameer at that time.

During the exchange, the two sides, in a very cordial atmosphere exchanged greetings and discussed the prevailing political situation in Bangladesh as well as the upcoming national parliamentary elections and referendum. They also emphasized the importance of further strengthening and consolidating the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and the United States.
