Khaleda Zia gets bail in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today got bail from the Supreme Court in Zia Orphanage Trust Corruption case in which he was sentenced to five years imprisonment by a trial court.

The apex court upheld the High Court order that granted bail to Khaleda Zia in the case.

The four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain dismissed the appeal filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission and the government challenging the HC order on the bail to Khaleda.

The Apex court rejected both the pleas filed by the Anti Corruption Commission and State prosecution, which they filed against the High Court order which had granted bail to Begum Khaleda Zia.

The Appellate Division also asked the concerned bench of the High Court division (the bench led by justice M Enayetur Rahim) to dismiss the appeal of Begum Khaleda Zia which she had filed against the sentence of 5 years imprisonment.
