Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 1^st April, 2017 condemning the incidents as Chittagong district’s Hathazari Upazila’s Enayetpur’s Baitush Sharf Ideal Madrasa’s Super Maulana Faridul Alam has been brutally insulted and assaulted by the Chhatra League cadres including Hathazari Upazila Chhatra League President Arifur Rahman on 30^th March, similar incident of humiliation where Shoronjai Degree College’s Principal Israt Ali had been insulted by Rajshahi district’s Tanor Upazila’s Soronjai Union Awami League President and local UP chairman Abdul Malek on 26^th March and another incident where local Principal Abdul Latif Mia had been insulted and humiliated by Jhalkathi Sadar Upazila chairman and district Awami League’s joint general secretary Sultan Hossen Khan.

“The teachers are the architect of the nation. It is really painful that these dignified personnel are repeatedly insulted and humiliated by the hooligans of Awami League and its student wing Chhatra League.

We have been observing with great resentment that since the Awami League led grand alliance government came into the power, the terrorists belongs to Awami league and Chhatra League became desperate and reckless. They had been involved with various types of ill deeds including tender terrorism, extortion, seat business, admission business, rape, drug business and assaulting teachers. They are engaged with these activities under the direct patronization of the government. They are doing these ill activities in front of the administration. As if the entire administration became hostage by the Awami goons.

On last 9^th January, 2017, Chhatra League’s central vice president Monir Hossain assaulted Dhaka University’s International Relation Department’s Associate Professor Mohammad Tanjum Uddin Khan. Earlier, on 26^th February, Chhara League activist Fahim humiliated Rajshahi New Government Degree College’s Associate Professor Abdul Awal Ansari and similarly on 22^nd February Chhatra League leader Firoz Hossen insulted Jhinaidah district’s Kaliganj Hatbar Bazar Secondary school’s Principal Rafikul Islam. Without mentioning further example, it can be said simply that the incident of assaulting and insulting teachers by the Chhatra League leaders are taking place frequently.

Even Prime Minister and her cabinet members are backing Awami League and Chhatra League. Under their naked backing, Chhatra League and Awami League became reckless and uncontrollable. If they are not checked now, they will put the nation towards deep crisis. In which directions, Awami League is leading the nation; we are calling upon the government and the general citizens and civil society members to think about it.

I am calling upon the concerned authorities to probe into the incidents of insulting teachers which have taken place across the country particularly in Chittagong, Rajshahi and Jhalkathi and also to arrest the hooligans of Awami League and Chhatra League and to ensure their exemplary punishment.”
