Secretary General disavows the false report of Bangladesh Pratidin; renounces alleged feud within the party

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 3rd February, 2017 protesting and gainsaying a false and baseless report of Bengali Daily ‘Bangladesh Pratidin’ titled ''বিতর্কিতদের নেতৃত্বে আনায় জামায়াতে চরম কোন্দল'' (Intense feud within Jamaat-e-Islami for bringing controversial figure in the leadership).

“The concerned reporter’s text about the central leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami are completely false and baseless. The incumbent authoritarian government has failed to tackle Jamaat-e-Islami politically. This is why; they had convicted the top leaders of the party in connection with some false cases of war crimes and executed those convictions as well. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is a popular party and has been working for years in a systematic way to turn Bangladesh into a welfare state.

The concerned reporter of Bangladesh Pratidin has tried to invent internal feud within Jamaat-e-Islami in order to humiliate the party in front of the people. I want to clarify that there is no feud within Jamaat-e-Islami. These all are nothing but the concoction of the concerned reporter. Whatever he has written about the financial source of Jamaat-e-Islami are also false as well. This report tells about a fictitious story of two thousand crore taka. The countrymen are well informed that Jamaat operates its all activities with the donation of its activists.

In different previous occasion similar false report had been published in Bangladesh Pratidin. We instantly protested those propaganda. But it is regrettable but fact that Bangladesh Pratidin never dared to publish our rejoinders. Their denial proved that these reports are entirely baseless.

I am vehemently protesting the false report of Bangladesh Pratidin and expecting that they would publish this rejoinder to prove their minimum respect towards the journalistic ethics and principles.”
