Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has issued the following statement on 24 July 2019 protesting and condemning the unjustifiable arrest of 8 Jamaat leaders and activists from Bagerhat district including district's Rampal upazila Jamaat Ameer Sheikh Nasir Uddin and secretary Mallick Abdul Hie.

"I am protesting the unjustified arrest of 8 Jamaat leaders and activists from Bagerhat district including Rampal upazila Jamaat Ameer Sheikh Nasir Uddin and secretary Mallick Abdul Hie.

Police has accused them of plotting conspiracy which is completely false and baseless. Police is conducting false campaign in order to harass them implicating with false cases. But they failed to seize any such elements from the arrestees to substantiate their claim. Such an intentional role from the police officials are really unfortunate.

I am urging the concerned authorities to stop such false campaign and to release the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami immediately.
