Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 22 June 2019 protesting the attack of Chhatra League cadres on the Namaj-e-Janaja (funeral prayer) of Jamaat’s central working committee member and veteran leader Maulana Mominul Haque Chowdhury at the Parade Ground of Chittagong today.

I am vehemently protesting the attack of the Chhatra League cadres on the Namaj-e-Janaja (funeral prayer) of Jamaat’s central working committee member and veteran leader Maulana Mominul Haque Chowdhury at the Parade Ground that wounded 5 Muslim devotees including apprentice lawyer Md. Jubayer. They are so violent that they cannot tolerate the funeral prayer of a person. 

By such attack, Chhatra League has exposed their anti-Islamic characteristics. Their terrorist activities and the mysterious silence of the police forces have uncovered their vindictive attitude. Nobody can expect such a heinous incident ever.

I am urging the concerned authorities to arrest the attackers for ensuring their exemplary punishment.
