Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan has issued the following statement on June 2, 2019 expressing deep concern as nine people have been killed and 14 others injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Bogra highway in Ullapara upazila.

I am expressing my deep concern over the increasing rate of road accidents just immediate before Eid. Not only in Sirajganj but in total at least 19 people have been killed and dozens injured in separate road accidents in six districts today. The bus drivers, bus owners and the concerned authorities should be more concerned in this regard. I am seeking salvations of the departed soul and extending my deep sympathy to the victim families. Besides, I am calling upon the authorities concerned to pay due compensation and damages to the victim families and also to take proper initiatives to ensure appropriate treatment of the injured.
