Jamaat Ameer calls to observe International Mother Language Day on 21st February with due solemnity and fervor

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Maqbul Ahmad has issued the following statement on 19 February, 2019 urging to observe International Mother Language and Glorious Martyr’s Day on 21st February with due solemnity and fervor.

Historic International Mother Language and Glorious Martyr’s Day is going to observed on 21st February. Bengali language has attained the recognition of state language and international mother language by dint of the blood and sacrifice of the great martyrs. The nation will always recall those martyrs who had accepted martyrdom during the language movement of 1952. I am remembering all those valiant martyrs with highest honor and respect and praying to Almighty Allah for their salvation.

Bengali language should be protected and preserved from the cultural and academic aggression. The sacrifice and dream of the language movement heroes will be fulfilled if Bengali language is established at all stages.

I am calling upon all the units and wing organizations of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the fellow countrymen to observe International Mother Language and Glorious Martyr’s Day on 21st February with due solemnity and fervor.
