222 dead as volcano-triggered tsunami hits Indonesia; Jamaat Ameer condoles

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Ameer Maqbul Ahmad has issued the following message of condolence on 23 December 2018 as a volcano-triggered tsunami has left at least 222 people dead and hundreds more injured after slamming without warning into beaches around Indonesia's Sunda Strait.

“I am deeply shocked and worried as 222 people have been killed and at least 745 people became seriously injured in a tsunami around Indonesia’s Sunda strait.

I hope, the government and the people of Indonesia will be able to overcome these huge damages and casualties. I am praying for the departed souls who have lost their lives in the tsunami. I am also extending deep sympathy to their mournful families. I am also praying for the quick recovery of the injured victims.
