Professor Mujib criticises Prime Minister for her provocative and aggressive addresses

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 15 December 2018 protesting and condemning the speech of the Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in which she mentioned several opposition candidates who are competing in different constituencies in the upcoming 11th National Election.

“Who were just 4 years old during war of independence in 1971, the Prime Minister in her speech even did not hesitate to term them as war criminals, which is really ridiculous.

What she has said about the candidate of ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ in Thakurgaon-2 constituency Maulana Abdul Hakim, Chittagong-15 constituency’s candidate, Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Maulana ANM Shamsul Islam, candidate for Khulna-5 constituency, Jamaat’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar, candidate for Satkhira-4 constituency Gazi Nazrul Islam, candidate for Pirojpur-1 constituency Shameem Sayedee and candidate for Cox’s Bazar-2 constituency and Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Hamidur Rahman Azad, is far away from truth.

Among the aforesaid candidates, Shameem Sayedee was not born in 1971. Rest of the others were immature in those days. The Prime Minister also termed Hamidur Rahman Azad as war criminal, though he was just a kid of 4 years during the liberation war.

Prime Minister also termed several leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami as war criminals. But practically, none of them was war criminal. They became the victim of state sponsored conspiracies and it has become clear from the book, written and published by former Chief Justice of Bangladesh, S K Sinha. This book also clarified that, these Jamaat leaders had been executed through a farcical trial just because of political causes. By making false propaganda against them, the Premier also violated the existing law and the human rights.

She is leading the executive department during this ongoing election period. Holding such an office and by delivering speeches against some of the opposition candidates, actually she is indirectly asking the administration to play role against them. Her speech has clearly violated the law, constitution and the electoral code of conducts. We are vehemently protesting and condemning her speeches and urging her to be refrained from delivering such provocative and aggressive speeches in future.”
