Tasnim Alam rejects the false news of Daily Ittefaq against Jamaat-e-Islami

Central Publicity Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Professor Md. Tasnim Alam has issued the following statement on 14 December 2018 protesting and gainsaying a report of Bengali Daily Íttefaq’ titled “চট্টগ্রামে আওয়ামী লীগের ভয় জামায়াতকে নিয়ে” (Chittagong Awami League is scared about Jamaat-e-Islami).

“Referring the irrelevant assumption of some Awami League leaders, the Daily Ittefaq in its report stated some information about Jamaat-e-Islami which is completely baseless and fictitious. I am severely protesting and condemning the report.

Responding to this baseless and false report of Daily Ittefaq, I want to assert that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami sincerely believes in systematic and democratic trend of politics. There is no space for armed cadres within Jamaat-e-Islami. So, it is nothing but an absolute fiction that armed Jamaat cadres would create anarchy during the election period in disguise of BNP activists. Since the declaration of the election schedule, the terrorists of the ruling Awami League have been attacking and assaulting the opposition activists and foiling the election atmosphere. These incidents proved that Awami League men are creating anarchy and mayhem nationwide.

Referring the Awami League leaders, the concerned reporter has written some stories about Jamaat-e-Islami, originated from his own fiction. The countrymen will not be misled by such fictitious reports. Rather, it will tarnish the image of Daily Ittefaq.

Therefore, I am urging the authorities of Daily Ittefaq to be refrained from publishing false and fictitious report about Jamaat-e-Islami. I am also expecting that they would publish this rejoinder properly to lessen the mass confusion.”
