Tansim Alam denounces the false reports of several media against Jamaat-e-Islami

Jamaat and Chhatrashibir sincerely believe in communal harmony and peaceful co-existence

Central Publicity Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Professor Md. Tasnim Alam has issued the following statement on 28 November 2018 protesting and denouncing the report published in Daily Kaler Kantha on 28 November and another report published in online news portal Bangla Tribune on 27th November, which quoted a resolution of US Congress that reportedly termed Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir as a threat for communal harmony and democracy and simultaneously blamed these two organizations for creating instabilities in Bangladesh.

“The reports of Daily Kaler Kantha and online news portal Bangla Tribune have drawn our attentions. Actually, we do not even know whether US Congress passed any resolution against Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir or not. But if there is any such resolution, we vehemently protest and condemn such contents.

Regarding this issue, our clear statement is, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir sincerely believe in systematic and democratic trend of politics. So, Jamaat and Chhatrashibir has no scope or intention to pose a threat to country’s communal harmony and democracy. It is out of question that Jamaat and Chhatrashibir are trying to create anarchy. It is absolutely false allegation that Jamaat and Chhatrashibir had targeted the security and honor of the minority communities in previous elections. No one could substantiate the allegation, and nobody will be. The leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir were not involved with any incidents of attacking on minorities. The incumbent government, ruling party backed media have been accusing Jamaat and Chhatrashibir of creating communal violence for a long time. But their allegations also have been proved wrong.

Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir always respectful towards democracy and rule of law. These organizations truly believe in communal harmony and peaceful co-existence. Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir are not communal platforms. We hope and believe that our clear stance and statement will clarify the entire subject matter and the US Congress will withdraw their previous untrue statement.
