Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 9th October 2018 protesting and condemning the police’s harassment and issuance of false and fabricated cases against the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami Nilphamari district unit including district Jamaat Ameer Md. Abdur Rashid, district working committee member and publicity secretary Abdul Malek Kazi, former district Ameer and Jamaat’s candidate in Nilphamari-3 constituency Principal Azizul Islam.
“Police has raided the houses and filed false cases against the Jamaat leaders and activists of Nilphamari district including district Ameer Md. Abdur Rashid. Police has created a panic in the whole area. Not only in Nilphamari district, police have also created same adverse atmosphere across the country as a part of a conspiracy to foil the national election. I am vehemently condemning such heinous plot of the government.
Instead of creating a congenial environment ahead of the national polls, the police are lodging false cases against the opposition activists particularly against the party men of Jamaat-e-Islami. This is nothing but a conspiracy to thwart the electoral process. I am urging the fellow citizens to raise voice against such ill-plot of the government.
I am calling upon the concerned authorities to stop filing false cases, harassment and police raid in the houses of the opposition activists immediately.
