Police arrests Jamaat leaders and activists from Brahmanbaria and Dinajpur; Professor Mujib condemns

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 22nd September 2018 protesting and condemning the unjustified arrests of Brahmanbaria district Jamaat Ameer Syed Ghulam Sarwar, Dinajpur north organizational district’s Assistant Secretary Tayeb Ali, financial affairs secretary Ataur Rahman and Brahmanbaria district’s Nasirnagar Upazila Jamaat Ameer Syed Ali, Ashuganj Upazila Jamaat Ameer Md. Shahjahan, Sorail Upazila Jamaat Secretary Enam Khan and finance secretary Advocate Monir.

The government has arrested Brahmanbaria and Dinajpur district Jamaat leaders in order to destroy the leadership structure of the organization. I am vehemently protesting and condemning the arrest drives.

The incumbent fascist government is arresting leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from different places across the country in a bid to stage a voter less farcical election. These incidents clarified that the authority is mulling conspiracies for holding another lopsided election just to linger its tyrannical tenure. I am calling upon the countrymen to raise voice against such conspiracies of the government.

Besides, I am urging the concerned authorities to stop arrest drives and to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir including Brahmanbaria district Jamaat Ameer Syed Ghulam Sarwar and Dinajpur north organizational district’s Assistant Secretary Tayeb Ali immediately.
