Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 21st September 2018 expressing his reaction over the recently published autobiographical book titled A Broken Dream: Rule of Law, Human Rights and Democracy’ written by former Chief Justice of Bangladesh Surendra Kumar Sinha.
“By this autobiographical book, former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha has exposed the vizard of his own and the incumbent fascist government. This book will be considered as a self-admitted testament of government’s fascism and simultaneously how Justice Sinha had committed crimes as a tool of incumbent sinful authority.
High aspirations and the greed for the top office has turned Justice Sinha into a tool of the fascist government. Such an unethical man can never conduct justice. He actually played the role of an accomplice of the government to execute the Jamaat leaders in a bid to attain their ill political interest. The government has stigmatized the sensitive post of chief justice by appointing a biased man like him.
The government has thrown him after using him to implement the conspiracy to kill top Jamaat leaders. If a judge is greedy for any office, or if he is submissive to any emotion, cannot ensure justice. It has been proved that Justice Sinha became influenced by the government to issue death penalty against Jamaat leaders. The fascist government was pleased to him as long he acted as per their whim.
But when he had delivered the judgment repealing 16th amendment to the constitution, the government became angered and aggrieved. They also forced him to step down and subsequently Justice Sinha was branded as sick and ultimately the authority sent him to exile in abroad. But he claimed in his book that he was not sick at all. This confession clarified the severity of ongoing fascism in Bangladesh.
His agony, pain, severe pain, failure, internal punishment and frustration have been revealed in this book. This book also exposed repeated interference from the executive body upon the judiciary.
The book of Justice Sinha proved that, the judiciary is not independent and there is no rule of law, democracy, freedom of expression and public security in the country. Justice Sinha established the fact that this fascist government can commit all heinous acts and adopting the Goebbels strategy, they can turn the false into truth by dint of its ill-campaign and fabricated propaganda.
The quarters who are being used by the government and still trying to keep this regime in the office should learn from the consequence of Justice Sinha.
This book, written by Justice Sinha substantiated that, truth can never be concealed. It will prove one day that the Jamaat leaders had been executed unjustifiably based on some false charges and false allegations. By the will of Almighty Allah, the perpetrators who were involved with these conspiracies will be tried and prosecuted in future.
