Acting Secretary General condemns police’s harassment against Jamaat leaders in Jessore and Kushtia district

Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 3rd September 2018 protesting and condemning the incident of filing false case against Jessore district Jamaat leaders including district’s former Ameer Maulana Azizur Rahman and Ex-MP Muhaddis Abu Sayeed and simultaneously protesting the unjustified arrest of Kushtia district’s KumarkhaliUpazila Jamaat Ameer Professor Abdul Mannan.

“I am vehemently protesting and condemning the incident of filing false case against Jessore district Jamaat leaders including district’s former Ameer Maulana Azizur Rahman and Ex-MP Muhaddis Abu Sayeed and simultaneously protesting the unjustified arrest of Kushtia district’s KumarkhaliUpazila Jamaat Ameer Professor Abdul Mannan. The government has lodged false cases against Jessore district Jamaat leaders and arrested Kushtia district Jamaat leader Professor Abdul Mannan just to attain their ill political interest.

The government has started the massive arrests of Jamaat and Chhatrashibir activists along with the 20 party alliances activists due to its fear of mass movement. Government’s popularity has reached into zero level. They became completely detached from the general masses. As such they have initiated new degree of repression to firm its tyrannical rule. I am urging the countrymen to launch mass resistance against the torture and suppression of the government.

Previously, no government could stay in the office by carrying out such oppression. The incumbent government will not be able to sustain as well. In this backdrop, I am urging the concerned authorities to stop arrest drive and to withdraw the false cases filed against Jessore district Jamaat leaders and release the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami immediately.”
