Tasnim Alam rejects Bangladesh Pratidin’s false report; renounces reported misunderstanding within 20 party alliances

Central Publicity Department’s Secretary of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Professor Md. Tasnim Alam has issued the following statement on 12th July, 2018 protesting and gainsaying the baseless and untrue information published in a report of Daily Bangladesh Pratidin, centring the relation between BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.

“The particular report of Bangladesh Pratidin is not authentic and informative. The untrue and baseless information, which is mentioned in this report in regards to the relation between BNP and Jamaat is politically motivated and intentional. I am vehemently protesting the report.

Since we have declared a mayoral candidate on behalf of the party for the Sylhet City Corporation polls, several newspapers including Bangladesh Pratidin has started publishing fictitious reports to serve the government’s agenda by creating confusion and misunderstanding within the 20 party alliances. Our clear remark in this regard is, 20 party alliances did not declare any particular candidate from the part of the alliance. So there is no chance of creating complicacies with this matter.

No question can be emanated as well of creating doubts and complicacies centring the local government election. Some vested quarters are trying to attain benefit by inventing so called relation between the government and Jamaat-e-Islami. Jamaat Ameer Maqbul Ahmad and Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman have been released after securing bail from the High Court following a long term legal battle. So any attempt to scandalise such events is unjustified and unexpected.

Jamaat also have participated in all the programs, declared by 20 party alliances demanding the release of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. So no confusion is there as well.

Under the circumstances, I am urging the authorities of Bangladesh Pratidin to be refrained from publishing such baseless and false news against Jamaat-e-Islami and expecting that they would publish this rejoinder properly to minimize the mass confusion.”
