Syndicated reports are being published against Jamaat-e-Islami to create misunderstanding within 20 party alliances, alleges Rafiqul Islam Khan

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan has issued the following statement on 7th July, 2018 protesting and gainsaying the baseless information published in the first page of Daily Amader Shomoy on 6th July and also in the online version of amadershomoy.com on 7th July in regards to Jamaat-e-Islami.

“I am severely protesting the baseless information published in the first page of Daily Amader Shomoy on 6th July and also in the online version of amadershomoy.com on 7th July regarding Jamaat-e-Islami. Whatever is said in the report of these two newspapers are far away from truth.

The reports claimed that ‘Jamaat will intentionally create distance with BNP. Jamaat may even pose threat to leave the alliance. This fictitious information has been published with an ill-intention to create faction among the 20 party alliances. The quarters who do not want to keep this alliance united and functional; these two media have published such objectionable information just to serve their agenda.

These two media also claimed about the secret correspondence between the government and Jamaat’s Secretary General and his activities are suspicious. These are also full of lies. Such content of the report is absolutely fiction of the concerned reporter. It has no relevance at all. Such a smear campaign has been carried out just to damage the image of Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.

The report also stated that during the time of distributing constituencies among the alliance partners in 2008, Jamaat’s the then Secretary General Shaheed Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid made some discourteous behaviour with BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia- such claim is also ridiculous. This information also brought in forth just to humiliate the character of this martyr. The incumbent government has executed this great leader. As he is no more to response the false propaganda, these reporters took the chance of humiliating him as well. Such actions are contradictory to the principles of journalism. A vested quarter is continuously conducting false campaign just to create faction within the 20 party alliances by creating confusion and misunderstanding between BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami. We firmly believe that these propagandas would be proved wrong very soon.

I am urging the authorities of Daily Amader Shomoy and online news portal amadershomoy.com to be refrained from carrying out propaganda against Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its leaders and also expecting that they would publish this rejoinder properly to lessen the public confusion.”
