Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Maulana ANM Shamsul Islam has issued the following statement on 8th July, 2018 protesting and condemning the unjustifiable arrest of Chittagong district’s Satkania Upazila Chairman and local Jamaat leader Jashim Uddin.
“Satkania Upazila Chairman and local Jamaat leader Jashim Uddin had secured bail in all cases from the High Court. Despite the fact, he has been arrested unlawfully. I am condemning the incident vehemently.
Mr. Jashim Uddin is a popular Jamaat leader. The government has filed false cases against him intentionally just to harass him politically. He secured bail from the High Court in all false cases, which had been filed against him. Police also demonstrated its utmost disrespect towards the law by arresting him ignoring the bail order of the High Court.
Under the circumstances, I am urging the concerned authorities to release him immediately and unconditionally without any further harassment.”
