Central Executive Committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Abdul Halim has issued the following statement on 4th July as there are some scope of creating confusion from some media reports which have been published quoting BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
“I was present at the meeting of the 20 party alliances held in the BNP office, located in Gulshan of the capital. I am astonished to see some reports of several media regarding this particular meeting. Jamaat backed candidate Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer is still competing for the mayoral post in the upcoming Sylhet City Corporation polls. There is no chance of creating confusion or misunderstanding in this regard.”
