Government did not allow Allama Sayedee to attend his brother’s funeral on parole; Acting Ameer condemns

Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Maulana ANM Shamsul Islam has issued the following statement on 19th June, 2018 protesting and condemning the government’s move as they did not release detained Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami and world renowned religious scholar Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee on parole to take part in the funeral of his younger brother Humayun Kabir Sayedee.

“Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee has been kept behind the bar for years in connection with some false and baseless charges. Earlier, while remaining in prison, his eldest son Rafique Bin Sayedee and mother had died. This time, his younger brother expired as well.

It was the last hope of late Humayun Kabir Sayedee that his elder brother Allama Delwar Hossain Sayedee would lead his Namaj-e-Janaja (funeral prayer). His family and the countrymen expected that the government would release the detained leader on parole to facilitate his participation in all the funeral activities. But unfortunately and miserably, the government failed to consider the issue on humanitarian ground; rather they attained their ill political interest. Government’s inhuman approach towards an elderly person did not make his family cry only but also made the countrymen aggrieved. I am vehemently protesting and condemning such vindictive and inhuman activities of the government and urging everybody to form broad base resistance against the incumbent autocratic government.
