Maulana Masum rejects the false news of Bangladesh Pratidin; Jamaat has no link with any militant groups

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 10th June, 2018 protesting and gainsaying the report of Bengali Daily ‘Bangladesh Pratidin’ which quoted some intentional and baseless remarks of BJP leader Onirban Ganguli against Jamaat-e-Islami, who recently held a meeting with the visiting BNP delegation.

“Bangladesh Pratidin mentioned some information against Jamaat-e-Islami quoting BJP leader Onirban Ganguli, who held a meeting with the visiting delegation of BNP in recent times. The comments and remarks which have been placed against Jamaat-e-Islami are completely false and concocted.

We do not even know whether any BNP delegation is in trip in India or not or whether they held any meeting with BJP and Congress representatives. We even do not know the reported comments of any BJP leader in those meetings. If the report of Bangladesh Pratidin about the remark of BJP leader against Jamaat-e-Islami is true, we are firm to claim that those statements are far away from truth. His reported comments about Jamaat-e-Islami, one of the most popular parties of Bangladesh, exposed his falsehood and lack of idea about this party. We want to say further that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is a legitimized and popular political party. The party believes in the systematic and democratic trend of politics. No question is emanated from the government’s side to conduct a case in a bid to impose ban on Jamaat-e-Islami. Any alleged link between Jamaat-e-Islami and the fundamentalist, militant and international terrorist forces is also baseless and irrelevant.

The report of Bangladesh Pratidin also claimed about 7 percent vote banks of Jamaat-e-Islami which is false information. Since the farcical election of 2008 till date, not a single national and local election was held which had attained credibility and public acceptance. So no one can predict the latest vote bank of any political party in Bangladesh. It will be assumed and reconfirmed only after a credible and participatory election. Such comment of the BJP leader is nothing but false and concocted propaganda.

Not only that, BJP leader has unjustifiably interfered into Bangladeshi politics by making comments about the politics, political parties and elections of Bangladesh. Such interference is completely unexpected and discourteous.

I am calling upon the BJP leader to be refrained from delivering false and concocted comments against Jamaat-e-Islami and expecting that Daily Bangladesh Pratidin would publish this rejoinder properly to minimize mass confusion.”
