Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Maulana A N M Shamsul Islam has issued the following statement on 14th May, 2018 urging everybody to carry out extensive effort to build oneself properly by securing the sacredness of Ramadan and also by shaping up characters based on Taqwa (fear of Allah).
“The holy month of Ramadan is knocking at our door with the sermon of blessings, sacredness and bounties. Ramadan is the month when the holy Quran has been revealed. The holy Quran is the guideline for humanity and ensures its freedom. Our holy Prophet (peace be upon Him) has said, “Ramadan is a month whose beginning is mercy, whose middle is forgiveness and whose end is freedom from the fire.” There is a night among the last 10 days of Ramadan month, which is better than thousands of nights. If an optional noble deed is done in this month, bounty of a mandatory deed is declared. While if a mandatory task is done, it will be rewarded 70 times more than the normal month. This month is the month in which we should try to be respectful and tolerant towards one another. I am calling upon my fellow Muslim brothers and sisters to observe this holy month with due dignity, fervour, sincerity and efficiency.
The holy Quran is the biggest blessing for the humanity. We can pay our highest tribute to the Quran by spending times to know this holy book accurately and simultaneously by taking the decision of making our personal life, family life and the national life in the light of the Quran. Almighty Allah has made the fasting mandatory so that we can attain such mentality and approach to obtain the blessings from Al Quran. We all should try to observe fasting in this month properly.
It is the obligations of the believers, particularly of the government to undertake stern actions to preserve sacredness and also to prevent indecency, vulgarism and nudity in this holy month. Now the general masses are highly disturbed with price hike of the essentials. It is the government’s responsibility to curb the price hike, improve the law and order situation and also to secure public safety and security.
The fascist government has arrested, murdered and abducted the opposition men, particularly the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir throughout the year. I am urging the concerned authorities to stop all these misdeeds in the month of Ramadan so that the people can observe fasting peacefully. I am also asking the authorities to release all the detained leaders and activists of 20 party alliances so that they can perform fasting during Ramadan in a free atmosphere.
