7 Jamaat activists including women arrested from Satkhira; Mia Ghulam Parwar condemns

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Professor Mia Ghulam Parwar has issued the following statement on 14th May, 2018 protesting and condemning the unjustifiable arrest of 7 leaders and activists from Satkhira district including Satkhira city unit Jamaat Ameer Professor Obaidullah and his wife and city Jamaat’s women wing’s secretary Razia Sultana.

“Police has arrested 7 leaders and activists from Satkhira district in order to harass them politically. I am protesting and condemning this arrest incident.

The holy month of Ramadan is knocking at our door. The countrymen are taking preparation to observe fasting and other rituals for this month. At that moment, the arrest of 7 leaders and activists from Satkhira district is really painful. Such a heinous arrest drive from a government of a Muslim majority country ahead of Ramadan is really unfortunate. The peoples of the country are highly aggrieved and shocked at such brutal move of the authority. I am urging the fellow citizens to raise voice against such repression of the government.

Under this backdrop, I am calling upon the concerned authorities to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir including 7 leaders and activists of Satkhira district immediately.”
