Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Maulana A N M Shamsul Islam has issued the following statement on 10th May, 2018 congratulating Mahathir Mohamad and detained leader Anwar Ibrahim as their alliance clinches massive victory in the Malaysian polls held on 9th May.
“I personally and on behalf of my party Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami congratulate Mahathir Mohamad and detained leader Anwar Ibrahim as their alliance clinches massive victory in the Malaysian polls. This is the victory of the Malaysian peoples indeed.
I hope, Malaysia under the dynamic leadership of Mahathir Mohamad will confidently move towards development, progress and prosperity. I also expect that Mr. Mahathir will play pivotal role in resolving the existing crises of the Muslim world. I further hope that under his leadership, the friendly relationship between Bangladesh and Malaysia will be strengthened more.
I am wishing long life, good health and success of Mahathir Mohamad and all the elected representatives. Besides, I am also extending my felicitations towards the peoples of Malaysia.”
