Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Maulana A N M Shamsul Islam has issued the following statement on 10th May, 2018 urging everybody to implement the dream of former Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, worldly known religious scholar, former minister and parliamentarian Shaheed Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami.
“Shaheed Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami, a name which is very close to the heart of the Bangladeshi peoples. He played outstanding role to secure the voting rights and also to launch multiparty democratic system in the country. He also struggled throughout his life to turn Bangladesh into a complete Islamic welfare state.
On last 11th May, 2016 the government executed him in connection with a false case and some baseless allegations in order to attain their political vengeance.
The people of Bangladesh will never forget his efficiency, honesty and transparency which he had demonstrated while discharging duties as the Agriculture and Industries Minister during the 4 party alliance’s government. As a top leader of the Islamic movement, he also worked hard to convey the message of Islam to the peoples across Bangladesh. The nation is deeply shocked and aggrieved as the incumbent government has executed such an honest, pious and patriot leader like Shaheed Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami.
The allegations which had been brought against Shaheed Maulana Nizami were completely false and concocted and the prosecution utterly failed to prove those charges. He had been deprived from getting justice. He is the victim of government’s political vendetta. We also condemn authority’s poor treatment with him while he was in jail and even immediate before his execution. He never sought clemency as he believed that Almighty Allah is only owner of our lives.
The dream of those vested quarters will never be true who had thought of destroying the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami by executing Shaheed Maulana Nizami. His every single drop of blood will inspire the Islam loving and democratic peoples of this country. The government has created a dark chapter in the political history of Bangladesh by unjustifiably executing Shaheed Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami.
Shaheed Maulana Nizami is no more among us. But the Islamic ideology, for which he has sacrificed his life, is still valid and effective. He carried out effort throughout his life for the establishment of this ideology. We can show our highest tribute towards him by making the Islamic movement successful.
To make the dream of Shaheed Maulana Nizami come true, let us make a vow to continue our movement until the Islamic welfare state is established in this country.
I am praying to Almighty Allah for the acceptance of martyrdom of Maulana Nizami and recalling his outstanding contributions for this nation with deep respect. Ameen.
