Acting Ameer calls to observe International Labour Day on 1st May with due fervour

Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Maulana A N M Shamsul Islam has issued the following statement on 29th April, 2018 urging to observe International Workers’ Day or Labour Day on 1st May.

“1st May is going to be observed as International Labour Day. On 1st May of 1886, the labour community of Chicago of the United States of America had set a unique example to establish their rights in the society. Since then, taking inspiration from those endeavours, the labour sections around the world have been continuing their movement to secure their righteous position in the society. This day had been observed for years, but still long way to go.

This is a very obvious fact that no human-made doctrine can offer proper solution to the human crises. Our beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) emphatically said “You should pay the labour his/her wages before his/her sweat dries”. The welfare of both the labour and owners will be ensured if the recommendations of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon Him) are implemented.

At present, the labour communities are deprived from their due rights. The conflicts and clash of interest between the labours and the owners have become worsened in different mills, factories and production sectors. Though often these labours take to the street but their rights and welfare are not ensured so far. We think that the real freedom and salvation of the labour sections will come if the ‘Islamic labour Policy’ is enacted. No more conflict will sustain then.

I am urging the countrymen particularly the labour communities of the country to observe International Labour Day on 1st May with due fervour.”
