Professor Mujib re-arrested from jail gate; Jamaat declares protest demo on Tuesday

Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Maulana A N M Shamsul Islam has issued the following statement on 9th April, 2018 protesting and condemning the re-arrest of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and Ex-MP Professor Mujibur Rahman from Rajshahi jail gate, though he secured bail in all false cases which had been filed against him.

“Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and Ex-MP Professor Mujibur Rahman had been granted bail in false cases, filed against him. Despite that, the government has caused unjustified sufferings and repression by re-arresting him from the jail gate. By such move, the government also showed utmost disrespect towards the law. I am protesting and condemning such unlawful and inhuman initiatives of the government.

The government is supposed to demonstrate respect towards the law. But instead of doing so, the government has humiliated the law by re-arresting Professor Mujibur Rahman from the jail gate. By disrespecting the law, the government also strangled the rule of law as well. Such unjust and undemocratic activities are beyond imagination in a democratic and civilised state.

I am calling upon the government to keep away from such inhuman, undemocratic and unjustified moves and to release Professor Mujibur Rahman immediately and unconditionally.”

Peaceful demonstration on Tuesday demanding release of Professor Mujibur Rahman

On behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, I am declaring nationwide peaceful demonstration on 10th April, 2018 Tuesday protesting against the unjustified re-arrest of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer and Ex-MP Professor Mujibur Rahman from the jail gate and demanding his immediate and unconditional release.

I am urging all wings and front organizations of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and also seeking the kind assistances of the countrymen to make the declared program successful.”
