Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 11th February, 2018 protesting and condemning the unjust arrest of ex-MP of Satkhira 4 constituency and local Jamaat leader Gazi Nazrul Islam.

Mr. Gazi Nazrul Islam is a popular figure of Satkhira Shamnagar area. He has been elected member of parliament from the same area for twice. The authority has arrested him unjustifiably just to harass him politically. I am vehemently condemning such arrest drive.

The incumbent tyrannical government has been detaining the leaders and activists of the 20 party alliances, particularly of Jamaat-e-Islami just to linger its tenure. The torture and oppression of the government has exceeded all the limits. The present authority is creating panic and a dreadful atmosphere nationwide in order to hold a one party election keeping all the opposition forces out of the process. I am urging the countrymen to remain vigilant about such ill conspiracy.

Finally I am calling upon the concerned authorities to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Gazi Nazrul Islam immediately.
