Khulna district Jamaat leaders arrested on false charges; Rafiqul Islam Khan protests

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan has issued the following statement on 25th January, 2018 protesting and condemning the arrests of 5 leaders and activists of Khulna district including Fultola Upazila Nayeb-e-Ameer Abul Hossen Morol and Secretary Professor Mostafa-Al-Mujahid from their houses on 23rd January.

“Police has unjustifiably arrested 5 leaders and activists of Khulna district including Fultola Upazila Nayeb-e-Ameer Abul Hossen Morol and Secretary Professor Mostafa-Al-Mujahid. Following their arrest, police authority has been propagating ill-motivated information against them in order to implicate them with false cases. I am severely protesting and condemning the incident.

Police is making propaganda saying that the detainees were holding a secret meet in the local madrasa (religious school). They also claimed to recover 4 hand made bombs from arrestees. But all the detainees had been nabbed from their houses. This contradictory reality proves that police has exceeded all the limits of fabrication and propaganda. Police’s statement against the detainees are ill intentional. Such an objectionable and immoral move from the law enforcers contradicts the spirit of rule of law.

I am urging the concerned authorities to stop ill-propaganda, to obliterate the false allegations and also to release all detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Abul Hossen Morol and Professor Mostafa-Al-Mujahid immediately.”
