Jamaat called nationwide peaceful demonstration held marking ‘Democracy Killing Day’

Central Majlish-e-Shura member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Dhaka city North unit’s Assistant Secretary Loshkor Mohammad Taslim has said, the democracy, democratic values and rule of law have been foiled and stigmatized by staging the farcical election on 5th January of 2014.The government is dreaming to hold another one-sided election in the same way in order to prolong its tenure. But the countrymen would not let their conspiracy come true. He urged the concerned authority to dissolve the illegal parliament in a bid to hold a new election under the neutral government.

He said this while addressing a post rally gathering at Mirpur of the capital as a part of the centrally declared program. Dhaka city North Unit Jamaat arranged the program. Among others, central Majlish-e-Shura member Maulana Delwar Hossain, Dhaka city North Shura member Mukul Patwari, Dhaka city west unit president of Chhatrashibir Abdul Alim, Shibir leader Jobayer, Abu Nahid, Masudur Rahman and others were present in the occasion.

Loshkor Taslim further said, whenever Awami League came to the power, it plotted conspiracy against democracy and democratic values. Earlier, they established one party rule. Coming to the power in 2008, they destroyed democracy and the democratic institutions. Election Commission has became a subservient body of the government and they murdered democracy by holding a farcical election. They are acting like a fascist and tyrannical regime. So no alternative but forming a national unity to get rid of this situation.

Badda procession:

Central Majlish-e-Shura member of Jamaat-e-Islami Nazim Uddin Molla said, the government has strangled democracy by holding a farce in the name of election on 5th January of 2014. The countrymen had denounced and rejected that controversial election. There is no chance to give any more time to this illegitimate government. He demanded a fresh election under a neutral government otherwise the government has to face mass resentment, he warned.

He said this while addressing a gathering at Badda of the capital. Among others, Dhaka north city Jamaat Majlish-e-Shura member Dr. Fakhruddin Manik, Hossain Ahmed, Ibrahim Khalil and Ataur Rahman Sarkar were present in the program.

Mr. Molla alleged that the government is carrying out oppression and torture against the general masses as they are in fear of losing their power. They are using the law enforcers to subdue the dissident forces. They imposed sanction upon the processions and rallies and foiled the constitutional rights of the people. The nation is witnessing increasing rate of crimes including murder, terrorism, anarchy, abduction, enforced disappearance, extortion and secret killing, he added. He urged the people to take to the street to dethrone the tyrannical government.

Dhaka city South:

Dhaka city South unit Jamaat hold a procession and rally in the city today marking Democracy Killing Day as a part of the centrally declared program. Dhaka city South’s working committee member Kamal Hossen led the procession. The procession started at Mowchak of the capital, and ended after visiting several roads of the city.

Kamal Hossen alleged that Awami League has murdered democracy by holding a farcical election on 5th January. This day is being regarded as the black day of the history of Bangladesh. Awami League also initiated a reign of terror by conducting murder, killing, rape and abduction. They are also trying to wipe out the opposition quarters. Freedom of expression and procession are at stake due to their tyrannical approach. But no conspiracy will be able to subdue mass upsurge. By the course of time, people will defeat all the conspiracies to restore democracy, he added.

Sylhet city:

Sylhet city Jamaat leaders said that Awami League and democracy cannot coexist. They destroy democracy whenever they come to power. They have put country’s freedom and independence at stake. They come to power in the name of democracy but later ruined it. By holding a farcical election on 5th January they imposed misrule upon the nation. They have hijacked rule of law, justice and human rights and turned the entire nation into a big prison. To get rid of this terrible situation, a broad base unity is a must.

They said this while addressing a demonstration to mark Democracy Killing Day today. Among others, Sylhet city Jamaat Secretary Maulana Sohel Ahmed, Assistant Secretary Shahjajan Ali, Shibir leader Nazrul Islam and Farid Ahmed were present on the occasion.
