Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 7th December, 2017 protesting and condemning the US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

“The entire Muslim Ummah is highly shocked, aggrieved and worried as the President of United States of America; Donald Trump has recently recognized Jerusalem, the sacred place to the world’s Muslim community as the capital of Israel. His recognition has ruined the entire Middle East peace process.

The first Qibla of the Muslim community, our heartbeat, the holy Masjid-ul-Aqsa is situated in Jerusalem. So this city can never be the capital of the Zionist state Israel. By recognizing Jerusalem, as the capital of Israel, President Trump has made a huge blow against around 2 billion of Muslim around the world. The Muslims around the globe have started agitation against such unjust move of President Trump. Already this decision sparked protests in the Arab world and millions of Muslims have already taken to the street.

President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israeli capital once again proved that United States and Israel are the two key factors behind the ongoing turmoil in the Arab region. They have created this anarchy in a pre-planned way. They are hatching conspiracies against Islam and the Muslim communities. It is the prime obligation of every Muslim to take stand against such conspiracy.

I am urging the United Nations, OIC and all the peace loving nations to take strong measures to keep Israel refrained from declaring Jerusalem as its capital. Besides, I am calling upon to repeal the US president Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
