Police raids Shaheed Mir Quasem Ali’s house; harassed family members; Acting Secretary General condemns

Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 1st December, 2017 protesting and condemning the police’s raid into the house of former Central Executive Committee member of Jamaat-e-Islami Shaheed Mir Quasem Ali on last 29th November and the subsequent inhuman harassment of the family members by the policemen.

“We are deeply shocked and aggrieved as police unjustifiably harassed the family members of Shaheed Mir Quasem Ali. Such roles of the policemen are really unjust, unexpected and inhuman.

The government has already attained its ill-political intentions by executing Mir Quasem Ali. It should be mentioned here that, several days before this unjust execution, some plain clothed policemen had picked up his son and one of his defence counsel Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem from his residence by carrying out a midnight raid. Since then, he is still traceless. His family as well as Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami have appealed several times to the government to give him back to his family. But still that humanitarian appeal remains unheard. Even the government is saying nothing about his whereabouts. What could be more brutal oppression than such passivity? When his family is suffering the pain of unjust execution of Shaheed Mir Quasem Ali and the abduction of his son, in such a crucial moment, police has harassed them once again, which is nothing but the political vengeance of the government.

I am urging the authorities concerned to stop harassing the family members of Shaheed Mir Quasem Ali and also to give Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem Arman back to his family immediately.”
