Rangpur city Jamaat Ameer re-arrested from jail gate; Acting Secretary General condemns

Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 25th November, 2017 protesting and condemning the re-arrest of Jamaat-e-Islami’s central working committee member and Rangpur city Ameer Mahbubur Rahman Belal from Rangpur jail gate on 24th November.

“It is really an ill-intentional move from the authority as they have arrested Jamaat-e-Islami’s central working committee member and Rangpur city Ameer Mahbubur Rahman Belal from Rangpur jail gate although he had secured bail from all the cases filed against him.

The government has shown its utmost disrespect towards the law and judiciary by arresting Mahbubur Rahman Belal from the jail gate ignoring the bail orders, which he had been obtained earlier. This incident once again proved that there is no existence of law and order in the country.

The government is continuing its repression and arrest drives just to linger its misrule. But the government must know that no government in the past could stay in office by carrying out such oppressions and similarly the present government would not be able to stay as well. I am urging my fellow citizens to raise voice against the authoritarian rule of the incumbent government.

Finally I am calling upon the concerned authorities to release all the detained leaders and activists including Mahbubur Rahman Belal immediately.”
