15 leaders and activists including Narayanganj city Ameer arrested; Acting Ameer demands immediate release

Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following statement on 17th November, 2017 protesting and condemning the unjustifiable arrest of 15 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from Narayanganj including Jamaat-e-Islami’s central working committee member and Narayanganj city unit Jamaat Ameer Maulana Muhammad Main Uddin Ahmad.

“The government is relentlessly arresting and detaining the members and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami in order to destroy the leadership of this organization. Police today unjustifiably arrested Narayanganj city Jamaat leaders from a religious and prayer program, where the participants were discussing about the holy Quran. With this arrest incident, the incumbent government’s anti-Islamic role has been exposed once again.

The government is plotting conspiracies to send election and the democratic system into exile in order to launch one party rule in the country. As a part of implementing these ill plots, government is arresting leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami nationwide. By such detention and arrest drives, government’s fascist face has been revealed.

The government has imposed misrule upon the nation. I am urging the fellow citizens to raise voice against the tyrannical misrule of the present government.

I am also calling upon the concerned authorities to release all the detained leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami including party’s central working committee member and Narayanganj city Jamaat Ameer Maulana Main Uddin Ahmad immediately.”
