Acting Secretary General demands judicial probe into Rangpur mayhem; rejects false statement of Rangpur Police SP

Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana ATM Masum has issued the following statement on 11th November, 2017 protesting and condemning the false statement of Rangpur district’s Police Superintendent Mizanur Rahman in which he has implicated Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir with the incidents of attack and arson in some Hindu houses in Pagla Peer and Gongachora area which have taken place in recent times centring a defamation of the Hazrat Mohammad (peace be upon Him) by a Hindu youth.

“Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir has no involvement with the incidents of attacking Hindu houses or setting fire in their houses in Pagla Peer and Gongachora area of the Rangpur district which have taken place in recent times centring a defamation of the Hazrat Mohammad (peace be upon Him) by a Hindu youth. Immediate after the incident, Rangpur district’s Police Superintendent Mizanur Rahman and Badarganj thana Police OC Akhtaruzzaman has delivered a false statement in which they intentionally implicated Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir with these happenings.

Some police officials had delivered such baseless and false statement in several occasions earlier implicating the leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir in order to harass them. But all of such claims proved false ultimately. By the will of Almighty Allah, this very comment of Rangpur district SP would be proved wrong and false as well. The police officials started blaming Jamaat and Chhatrashibir men, without any investigation. Their actions proved that entire incidents are predesigned and pre-fixed.

I am urging the concerned authorities to be refrained from delivering false statement against Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir. I am also raising demand for conducting judicial investigation into this incident.”
