Jamaat-e-Islami declared peaceful demonstration held nationwide; top leader’s release demanded

Central working committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Dhaka city North unit’s Secretary Dr. Rezaul Karim has alleged that the government has chosen the path of torture and repression as they failed to tackle their opponents politically and ideologically. As a part of the same conspiracy, the government has unlawfully arrested Jamaat’s top leaderships including party’s Ameer Maqbul Ahmad and Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. But no government could sustain by conducting such oppression and so as the incumbent government would not be able to stay in office. He protested against the ongoing arrest drives and demands immediate release of the detainees.

He said this while addressing a post-protest rally gathering held in the capital today. The procession began from Uttor Badda area of the town and crossed various roads. Among others, Dhaka city North Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary Loshkor Mohammad Tasnim and Mahfuzur Rahman, Chhatrashibir’s central office secretary Sirajul Islam, central Majlish-e-Shura member of Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana Delwar Hossain, Dhaka city North unit’s working committee member Nazim Uddin Molla and Fakhruddin Manik were present on this occasion. Thousands of party activists joined the procession. Following the program, police arrested 6 pedestrians.  

Dr. Karim further alleged that the government is continuously plotting conspiracies to annihilate the patriot leaderships of the country. As a part of the conspiracy, they have already executed top 5 leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami including former Ameer-e-Jamaat Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami, former secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid, former Assistant secretary generals Mohammad Kamaruzzaman and Abdul Quader Molla and former central executive committee member of Jamaat-e-Islami Mir Quasem Ali. But those executions could not be stopped the functions of the organizations. He urged the countrymen to form broad base unity against the anti-national conspiracies of the government.

Dhaka city South:

Dhaka city South unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami similarly hold a protest rally in the capital denouncing the unjust arrest of top Jamaat leaders including party’s Ameer Maqbul Ahmad. In the programs, Jamaat leaders alleged that the government has arrested top leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami as a part of their yearlong conspiracies to destroy the leaderships of the opposition forces. There is no democracy or rule of law in the country. The authority has forcefully shut down Jamaat’s central office and all the cities and district levels offices for years. They are even arresting the Jamaat leaders from an informal meeting. They are not allowing the Jamaat men even to seat together. The government has to face worst consequence, if they treat the detained Jamaat leaders wrongly, they warned.

Dhaka city South unit Jamaat’s working committee member Shamsur Rahman, Kamal Hossen, city Shura member Aminur Rahman, Hafijur Rahman, Chhatrashibir’s publicity secretary Khalid Mahmud, Shibir leaders Sohel Rana Mithu, Tofajjol Hossen and Tariq Masum were present in the procession.

Chittagong city:

Chittagong city Jamaat holds several processions in the port city protesting against the top leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. During Monday’s gruesome arrest drive, police also arrested Chittagong city Jamaat Ameer Mohammad Shahjahan and city Secretary Nazrul Islam as well.

Jamaat leaders at that time warned that if the top leaders are not released immediately then a stalemate would be created and the government will not be able to ignore its liabilities in those regards.

Similar protest meetings, rallies and processions also held in other districts and towns across the country including Sylhet, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Comilla, Narayanganj, Mymensingh, Gazipur, Norshingdi, Pabna, Nilphamari, Dinajpur, Manikganj, Jessore, Bogra, Sunamganj, Moulovibazar, Feni, Noakhali, Chandpur, Laxmipur and Chapai Nawabganj.
