Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan has issued the following statement on 4th October, 2017 protesting the unjustifiable arrest of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Sirajganj district Ameer Maulana Shahinur Alam who has been arrested by the policemen on 3rd October from his residence.

“Police has unduly arrested Jamaat-e-Islami’s Sirajganj district Ameer Maulana Shahinur Alam just to attain ill political interest of the government.

The government is arresting the members and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from different places across the country just to stay in power unlawfully. The government is imprisoning the opposition leaders and activists, particularly the members and workers of Jamaat-e-Islami in a bid to invalidate the political activities of the country. The tortures and oppressions of the government have exceeded all the previous records. The general masses are highly aggrieved and angered due to such misrule and oppression of the government. Losing the mass support, the government is mulling to stay in power forcefully by abusing the state apparatus. I am urging the fellow citizens of the country to raise voice against the misrule of the incumbent authoritarian government.

Finally I am calling upon the concerned authorities to release all the detained members and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Sirajganj district Jamaat Ameer Maulana Shahinur Alam immediately.”
