Rejects alleged connection with the syndicate or with the relief looting incident

Tasnim Alam denounces the false report of Daily Manabzamin against Jamaat-e-Islami

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s central Publicity Secretary Professor Md. Tasnim Alam has issued the following statement on 20th September, 2017 protesting and gainsaying the false and baseless information published in Bengali Daily ‘Manabzamin’ implicating Jamaat-e-Islami titled “রোহিঙ্গাদের ত্রাণ লুটে সিন্ডিকেট”  (Syndicate formed to loot the relief allocated for the Rohingya peoples).

“Local members and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami have no connection with the syndicated looting of Rohingya’s relief in Palongkhali union of the Ukhia Upazila under Cox’s Bazar district. A false propaganda has been carried out against Jamaat-e-Islami in the aforesaid report of Daily ‘Manabzamin’.
Akbar Hossain, the person, whose name is mentioned in this particular report, is a local activist of Jamaat-e-Islami. He has no nexus with the relief looting incident. He has given shelter to the oppressed Rohingya people by building house on his own land and already distributed the reliefs and other goods among them worth of 0.1 million taka.

It should be mentioned here that, false campaign was similarly carried against Jamaat-e-Islami by the Daily ‘Manabzamin’ in another report published on 11th September titled‘রোহিঙ্গাদের নিয়ে নির্দয় বাণিজ্য’  (Cruel business with the Rohingya peoples). We also protested that news as well. Our rejoinder was published in two national dailies. Within a week of that sheer campaign, today the Daily Manabzamin has published this false and baseless report against Jamaat-e-Islami. By publishing such false and concocted information, Daily Manabzamin has violated the ethics and principles of the authentic and credible journalism. We do not expect such a kind of role from a national daily like ‘Manabzamin’.

I am urging the concerned authorities to hold a fair investigation into the incident of alleged relief looting as published in the report of daily Manabzamin and also to bring the involved personnel to the book to ensure their exemplary punishment.

Finally, I am calling upon the authorities of Daily Manabzamin to be refrained from publishing false and baseless information against Jamaat-e-Islami and expecting that they would publish this rejoinder properly to lessen the mass confusion.”
