EC’s roadmap frustrated the nation; says Secretary General; rejects EVM voting system once again

Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the following statement on 16th July, 2017 expressing deep wonder as the Chief Election Commissioner A K M Nurul Huda has said that ‘It is possible to hold free and fair election under the regime of Awami League and the option for using EVM is not closed yet’ while addressing a press conference for declaring a roadmap for the next general election.

“Such a remark from the chief election commissioner is completely untrue, unprecedented, illogical and unrealistic. We are deeply shocked and surprised at his comment.

The entire nation is agreed of the view that free, fair and credible national election is not possible under the tenure of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Otherwise, the farce like 5th January of 2014 election will be recurred. But the countrymen will reject such a farcical election.

The fellow citizens of the country are not inclined to see the same strategies like the previous election commission from the incumbent election commission. We firmly believe that fair and credible election is no way possible under the government of the Sheikh Hasina. EVM system is not accepted anywhere in the world. It is a rejected process. The nation expected to get a new hope from the EC roadmap. But their roadmap also frustrated the nation.

The fellow citizens of the country want to see a free, fair, credible and participatory election under the fair government. The nation will not compromise in this regard. Any effort to hold a farcical election will not be accepted. The countrymen want to regain their voting rights.”
