Secretary to the Central Publicity Department of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Professor Tasnim Alam has issued the following statement on 8th July, 2017 Protesting and gainsaying the report titled “কর্মীরা জেলে-আত্মগোপনে, নেতারাবহালতবিয়তে” (Party activists are in hideout while the leaders are in as usual condition) published in daily ‘Amader Shomoy on 8th July.
“The information what has been stated about Jamaat-e-Islami in the aforesaid report of Daily Amader Shomoy is completely baseless. Under the regime of the incumbent tyrannical regime, almost all the leaders and activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami have been victimized by the unprecedented repression of the government. Jamaat leaders and activists either imprisoned or freed are being properly supervised by the party. Some of the detained party men are getting freed or some of them are suffering to get bail due to oppressive policies of the government. The Daily Amader Shomoy has published about the hideout of the party high ups intentionally. The claim is completely irrelevant. The reality is the government is not allowing any Jamaat leaders or activists to stay in their home, office or business institutions comfortably. Mass media is the mirror of the society and this is why we do hope that the journalist communities would uphold the pictures of government’s excessive oppression and tortures accurately.
From the grassroots to the central, all the Jamaat leaders are becoming the victim of government’s vindictive politics. Nobody is in as usual position. The authority has filed false cases against all the leaders and activists and under such circumstances, party men are relentlessly harassed by the authority’s tyrannical strategies.
All party leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami are discharging their organizational duties along with their regular professional jobs. During the current tenure, many of them have lost their jobs, many business have been ruined, many institutions, farms, house or agro fields have been destroyed. The Daily Amader Shomoy in their report has intentionally tried to spread the news of discrimination among the party structures in order to create confusion among the party leaders and activists. But such an ill attempt would not be succeeded.
In this backdrop, I am urging the authority of Daily Amader Shomoy to be refrained from publishing false report against Jamaat-e-Islami and expecting that they would publish this rejoinder properly to minimize the mass confusion.”
