Chittagong district’s Jamaat leaders and activists arrested; Shamsul Islam protests

Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Shamsul Islam has issued the following statement on 25th May, 2017 protesting and condemning the unjustifiable arrest of 6 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Chittagong district’s Satkania Upazila Jamaat Ameer Maulana Abul Fayez and Upazila’s working committee member Tareq Hossain.

“Just ahead of Ramadan, police has arrested 6 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including Chittagong district’s Satkania Upazila Jamaat Ameer Maulana Abul Fayez and Upazila’s working committee member Tareq Hossain, which is really painful and condemnable.

When the peoples are taking preparation for Ramadan, just at that time, police is causing troubles and sufferings to the Jamaat leaders and activists by arresting them. If the government would have minimum respect towards the holy month of Ramadan, they could not arrest the innocent leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami.

Finally, I am urging the concerned authorities to stop harassment and to release all the detained leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami including 6 Satkania Upazila Jamaat Ameer Maulana Abul Fayez immediately.”
