Hamidur Rahman Azad denounces the false comment of CTTC chief Monirul Islam against Jamaat-e-Islami

Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of the Parliament Hamidur Rahman Azad has issued the following statement on 30th April, 2017 protesting and condemning the untrue remarks of the chief of Police’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit Monirul Islam against Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir that he has made while talking to Daily Jugantor on 29th April.

“The untrue remarks of the chief of Police’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit Monirul Islam against Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir have no basis. He has delivered these politically motivated comments only to tarnish the image of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir. We are shocked and surprised listening to his untrue remarks.

Responding to the remarks of Police’s senior official Monirul Islam, I want to assert that Jamaat and Chhatrashibir have no connection with the growing militancy in Bangladesh. Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir sincerely hate militancy by all means. Jamaat has no relation with Rafiqul Islam Babu and his wife Sumaiya Khatun who have been killed in a raid in Chapai Nawabganj. JMB militants Nurul Islam Marzan and Raihan Kabir alias Tareq were never involved with Islami Chhatrashibir. No one could prove any nexus so far between the militants, who have been killed and detained, and Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatrashibir.

In this backdrop, I am urging police officer Monirul Islam and concerned others to be refrained from making false, ill-motivated and fictitious comment implicating Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir.”
