Prime Minister failed to protect national interest in her India trip

Jamaat-e-Islami declares nationwide peaceful protest demonstration on Saturday

Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has issued the statement on 13th April, 2017 declaring the following programs as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has failed in her recent India trip to secure any justifiable demands including Teesta River’s water sharing treaty, killing of innocent Bangladeshi civilians at the frontiers and decreasing trade deficit and instead of these just issues, signed 11 treaties and 24 memorandums of understanding (MoU) for the sake of Indian interest.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went to India to resolve several bilateral issues. But the long awaited Teesta River water sharing treaty has not been signed in this trip. Resultantly the people have become extremely frustrated and aggrieved.

India has secured all the things as per its desire. But Bangladesh failed to achieve any of its due rights. The utmost failure of Sheikh Hasina has pushed the nation towards darkness. In this backdrop, I am urging the government to disclose all the signed treaties and MoUs before the nation.

Protesting against such failure of the government, on behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, I am declaring nationwide peaceful demonstration on 15th April, Saturday. I am calling upon all the wings and front organizations of Jamaat-e-Islami and seeking the assistance of the countrymen to make the declared program successful.”
