Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Professor Mujibur Rahman has issued the following message of condolence on 24th October, 2023 expressing deep shock and extending sympathy to the victim families.
At least 25 people were killed and many other became injured after a freight train ignored a signal light and rammed into a carriage of Egarosindhur Godhuli near Bhairab Bazar Junction Railway Station on Monday afternoon. Due to the impact, three carriages of Egarosindhur, packed with passengers, derailed and two overturned. I am very shocked and saddened over the casualties of this accident. The losses, created because of the accident is not easy to be fulfilled. I am praying to Allah for the victim families so that they can overcome this tough part of their lives shortly.
I am also praying for the salvation of those souls who have been killed in this accident, to the injured and extending sympathy to their mournful families. I am seeking quick recovery of the injured. I am urging the concerned authorities to take effective measures for ensuring proper treatment of the injured and also to pay due compensation to the victim families. Besides, I am calling for investigating the incident and to take punitive measures against the personnel who were responsible behind this accident.
